The psychology of aesthetics
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Aesthetics – this word stirs up all kinds of associations. One person pictures a painting, another recalls a particularly beautiful sunset, a third the face of a loved one.
In dentistry, “aesthetics” is among the most frequently used words. A replacement tooth, a shade, the shape of the teeth – everything is judged against the overall aesthetic impression. Numerous studies look into what makes us perceive an object or a person as beautiful: symmetry, harmony and how familiar something is to us all affect the sense of beauty. So do the state of the observer, their cultural background and the circumstances in which they judge.
“Aesthetics” literally means “the science of the senses”.
It is concerned above all with sensory perception and with what we recognise through it. The word comes from the Greek aisthesis – “perceiving” and “feeling”, but also “recognising” and “understanding”.

With the Health Insurance Fund and with your fund
The clinic has a contract with the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). Under it, insured patients are entitled free of charge to:
- 1 + 2a check-up and two procedures (fillings or extractions) for insured patients
- 1 + 4a check-up and four procedures for children under 18, including root canal treatment
- Family(„Фамилия“) a package of services for the whole family; packages at preferential prices for the employees of companies with a contract

The team
Dr Veselina Dimova
She graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry of the Medical Academy in Plovdiv in 1982, and in 1989 qualified as a specialist in “General Dentistry” at the Medical Academy – Sofia. Her interests are aesthetic and restorative dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics and oral and maxillofacial surgery – implantology and periodontal surgery.
She has attended more than 20 postgraduate courses, among them MAILLEFER in Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Los Angeles.
