A relatively young discipline within periodontology, which today is a fully separate specialty in dental medicine.
Around the world, periodontology, and periodontal surgery in particular, is a highly developed medical specialty. It is encouraging that in recent years interest in it has been growing in Bulgaria too – more and more dentists in private practice are giving modern periodontal surgery its due.
Surgical procedures are also part of the therapeutic treatment of the gums: in it the tissues can be incised, curetted under direct vision and sutured.
